West Seattle YMCA to open Queenax Fitness Studio, an innovative new training system

Seattle, Washington – The West Seattle YMCA today announced that as part of its expansion and renovation project, it is opening a new fitness studio housing Queenax, an innovative new training system.

Queenax is multi-purpose training equipment that centers on functional fitness, using exercises that mimic daily life activities to improve cardiovascular endurance and gain strength, flexibility and conditioning.

With a range of equipment all on one frame, workouts can include anything from TRX suspension training to a punching bag, battle rope drills and dip bars. Queenax can also be used for stretching and flexibility by attaching bars and straps at different heights. The options are endless and easily scaled to support every fitness level.

“I am excited about the uniqueness of the Queenax equipment,” says Lindsay Exley, Health & Wellness Director at the Y. “I like to think of Queenax as an adult jungle gym – a way to make fitness fun and exciting! Whether new to exercise, or wanting to add variety to a routine, our Queenax will offer something for just about anyone.”

The Queenax Fitness Studio will open on Monday, November 14 with a three-week series of demo classes. The demo classes are free to both Members and Community Participants, with advance registration required. Users can choose to participate in a TRX demo, Pilates demo or Circuit Training demo or all three. A full schedule of group exercise classes and drop-in times starts in early December.

We need your help to complete the West Seattle YMCA expansion project!

thermometer-capitalThe West Seattle YMCA expansion project is three months from completion and very close to reaching the fundraising goal. Sue and Bob Chamberlain along with Liann and Steve Sundquist are offering a total of $100,000 in a challenge fund to help finish the project, but only if people like you donate.

Every single donation to the project will be doubled by this challenge fund. If you haven’t made your gift yet, now is your time. All gifts big and small will have double the impact. If you’ve given already, we invite you to consider giving again so that this much-needed expansion can be completed.

We need you in order to secure 100% of the challenge. Your generosity will have double the impact.

The roof!

Have you seen the gorgeous roof on the new addition? Seems like there’s something new to admire every day. Progress is moving quickly and the project is expected to be complete by year-end!

Two incredible families have joined forces to provide you with an incentive to give for the first time, or give again.

Kids Zone to open September 9 – Phase I of construction nearly complete!

One of the satisfying things about giving to a capital campaign is that you can see your dollars at work with each new room that is built! Beginning September 9, come take a peek at the three rooms that make up the Kids Zone. These new spaces give infants to tweens age-appropriate places to be active and have fun while their parents and caregivers work out at the Y.
